Three Hanoverian Princesses @ Yale Center for British Art

Historic Royal Palaces and the Yale Center for British Art have collaborated on a new exhibit about three Hanoverian princesses entitled ‘Enlightened Princesses: Caroline, Augusta, Charlotte, and the Shaping of the Modern World.”  The exhibit provides a glimpse into the life and accomplishments of the three German princesses, all of whom married into the British royal family.  It features paintings and decorative arts owned by the princesses and their families, including works by Hans Holbein, Joshua Reynolds, George Stubbs, and Thomas Gainsborough.  The exhibit runs from February 2 – April 30, 2017.  After it finishes its run in New Haven, it will travel to England where it will be on view at Kensington Palace from June 22 to November 12, 2017.  The Yale Center for British Art houses the largest collection of British art outside the UK.
